How do I run XP games, i.e. Oblivion, on my iMac?

I'm having a difficult finding the right threads detailing exactly how its done, people seem to skip the basic steps and jump right into configuring the game. What's the best way to do this?

I am not a gamer much so all I know is that you use bootcamp and a licensed copy of XP to play. Not Mac OS.

First of all; have you used Bootcamp and installed Windows onto your Mac? (you will need to purchase a retail or OEM Windows to do this)

Not yet, have no money, will a bit torrent of XP work for this?
