Hi, i'm a college student and wondering how i get the wired connection to work. I"m running an ethernet cable from my MBP into the internet jack. I also have wireless but the university wireless sometimes donks out for a minute and it is very frusterating. Once I plug my ethernet into the computer and internet jack how do I go about setting it up for a wired connection? Thanks so much

System Prefernces
Network
Built in Ethernet
Configure
TCP/IP

Now, put in the settings that your Uni. provides you with.

If you don't have any info, try "Using DHCP" and leave everything else stock.
If that doesn't work go and look at a buddy's machine. & write the settings down, or call the Help desk at the uni.

In my experience, you should be able to just plug in and go_Of course, this probably varies between schools, but I think its worth a shot. If it doesn't work, then go grab the settings from someone.

It's amazing that it is in some ways easier to set up a wireless connection than a hardwired one these days. I didn't really know how to either :p
