Last night on Instagram I made a comment and I typed the word “it”, only I messed up and that wasn’t what was sent. Now whenever I type the word, autocorrect replaces it with some stupid nonsensical empty box emoji thing, and it’s EVERYTIME! I’ve typed “it” correctly, and I always “x” out of the suggestion, and the phone still does it.

I’ve gone to general > reset > reset keyboard dictionary. That isn’t helping. This is super annoying. Look!

^^^ that’s what happens if I don’t remember to “x” out of the autocorrect bubble. I’ve never had this happen, ever, in the 8 or so years I’ve had iOS. Man do I ever hate iOS 11.

Settings > general >keyboard turn auto correction off

Well I do want it in general, just not for when I am correctly typing the word “I️t” << OMGGGG.

I even set a shortcut so that when I type it, it’s supposed to ignore it. Kinda like how omw is a default and corrects to On my way!

Still isn’t working. It it it it it it it <<< it it it it it it it it it it

I just “x” out of the autocorrect bubble for each time I typed those. It is still suggesting the nonsensical correction. What a lousy iOS.

This is annoying.

You used to be able to correct the behaviour using the notes app. You typed it three times correcting it along the way and it learned what you wanted. Don’t know if this is still true though

This might be a legit bug. I can’t seem to fix this. I just tried your suggestion
[doublepost=1514839767][/doublepost]Also I’ve gone to settings > general > reset > reset keyboard dictionary and entered my passcode to have that all reset...still doesn’t stop. How ridiculous lol

Honestly don’t know mate. I don’t have the issue personally any more. If I type it then it stays as it

What specific version of iOS are you running?

The SE that is giving me this issue is running 11.0.3

Purchased it last week hoping it shipped with 10.3.3 like the last one I bought. The irony of this happening to me when I was already bummed it was preloaded with 11 does not escape me...

Some later iOS 11 updates have addressed a number of autocorrect issues like that.

Fantastic. So my only options would appear to be to completely factory reset the device and hope I never mistype the word “it” ever again...or update to the latest version of 11? Gahhhh.

Thank you for the knowledge anyway, and to the previous poster who also tried to help. Much appreciated..

It's a known bug-- nothing for it but an update.
