Hey guys,
May be a novice question, but my wife really like my itunes library, so is there a way for both of us to share the itunes library? so when she plugs in her ipod on my mac, can she access itunes and sync songs? i read a couple different ways on how to do this, but i am a bit confused. i don't want duplicate all the songs on my hard drive, that's how interpret the shared music folder method. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried simply connecting both iPods? That should be all in takes.

The only possable problem is that if you bought the songs from the iTunes store and they are the old "protected" kind then they can only be on five or six devices at any one time. But unprotected songs and any you ripped yourself from CD have no limit.

The person who owns the iTunes library needs to be logged into the Mac using their account and then whatever iPod you plug in will sync with te iTunes library that is inside that account. But you can only sync to one iTunes libray at a time.

Is her iPod synced to another library?

If it is and she plugs it into yours and clicks sync it'll wipe everything on her iPod.

Alternatively plug it into her iTunes and check the "manually manage music and videos" button. Now she can use it on any library, but she'll have to drag and drop - it won't automatically sync anymore.

you can do the home share it's your option

Check out home share. It's for sharing your music with the people in your house hold.

Your iTunes library may be synced with more than one iPod, but each iPod may be synced with only one iTunes library.

So as long as she isn't syncing with her own iTunes library, then yes, it can be done.

If you want her iPod to sync only certain songs, then go into iTunes on your computer, create a playlist of all the songs to go on her iPod, and when you plug in her iPod you can tell it to sync only that playlist.

Again, all bets are off if she's currently syncing with another iTunes library.

That thinking is a bit outdated.

iTunes for quite a number of months has allowed sharing of media and apps within the house to up to 5 computers.

So OP should share the whatever with her, and she can sync it.

Put the songs she wants on external hard drive, and put them on her computer. Burn a CD, and put them on her computer. Use home sharing, and get them to her computer. It's Apple, simplicity is standard.
