How do I take one line off of a Verizon family plan without paying much?

Technically, the terms dictate that you pay the ~$175 PER line.
But I am sure that you can get your brother out due to poor service, and usually they will say they can not do anything for you. Just say "thanks for trying", hang-up, and call right back and repeat. It could take a lot of calls but as long as you are nice about it they are usually more than happy to accomidate you.
