how do i test the RAM?

I just installed new Ram and since then the machine has shut down twice. with the msg " your computer had to restart because of a problem" so i'm wondering how i can test the Ram. also, what log would i look at to see what the actual problem was?

Turn the Mac on

Hold down the D key

ADT (apple diag test) will launch

Click Extended test then start test.

This will do a decent ram test. Will take 1+ hour if you have 16gb.
