19,1 iMac, Sequoia 15.1.1:

I am being constantly reminded that the CanonEOS1D.kext file, will soon become incompatible with Sequoia or later systems. Anyone know how to turn this off? I don't even use the Canon camera any longer.

Actually, I want to trash all Canon kext files in my iMac, but I lack permission to. So does anyone know how to trash from the System folder?

You can not remove kexts from /System/Library/Extensions/.
Look into /Library/Extensions/

i dont understand what is your point? I have no permission. But i can turn it off w Terminal. Are you saying i dont have to turn off this protection?

The reminder is not generated by the kext in /System/Library/Extensions/. If it were, everybody using Sequoia would see the same reminder.

You don’t have to and you can’t delete kexts in /System/Library/Extensions/. The system volume is read-only.

Look into /Library/Extensions/, not ~/Library/Extensions/

Wait, are you saying /Library/Extensions/ is not in the System folder? I have no permission for anything in the System folder, unless i use Terminal first.

/System/Library/Extensions is not the same folder as /Library/Extensions. Open Macintosh HD and then the Library folder, not the System folder. Look in the Extensions folder there.

I'm sorry. Ive been too slow. I appreciate your patience w me. I looked in the /Library/Extensions/ folder, there was no CANON extension. If you will look at the image I sent, you will see the path to the extension. It is in the System Folder. So how does that jive w what you are telling me to do?

In the first image you have 5 CanonEOS1D kexts, 3 with a number in the name. Where are those?

That file is part of the OS and can't be removed by normal means. Can you please attach a screenshot of the reminder message that you're getting?

I'm sorry, I should have kept a snap shot of it. I have not received it since. The message was a warning that sometime in the near future the CanonEOS1D.kext file will be incompatible with Sequoia system software.

If, as per your original post, you were previously "constantly" reminded, and now you haven't seen it for some time, then it appears that you have successfully resolved the problem (i.e. the issue was one of the other files from your original screenshot).

I asked Perplexity to tell me how to remove this file. I followed the instructions using terminal, but received this terminal message about 2 unexpected arguments. At this point I don't know what Im doing. Before I had successfully turned off SIP. But the Perplexity instruction was not correct for removing the kext, so I reenabled SIP, and wrote the list.

As @Nermal says, you seem to have solved the problem if you don't get the reminder anymore.
You don't have to (and can't) do anything about the kext in the /System folder, as every mac user has it and it's put there by Apple. The message about incompatible kexts only refers to kexts that you yourself have installed, not the ones pre-installed by Apple. That would be very strange.

That garbage "AI" is hallucinating, generating false information.
There never was a command “kmutil block”.
You can get a list of accepted commands by simply running kmutil.
