I have a late 2015 iMac and now have my TV connected with an HDMI cable. How do I tun off my iMac screen when I am watching a movie on my external monitor/TV? I am using elCapitan.

Thank you!!

it's a shame but this is not possible ... maybe with third party software
Really? I am stunned this can't be done. I tried turning the brightness all the way down but that didn't do the trick. Is there maybe a way to tell it to use the external monitor only??
If it can't be done maybe I'll just throw a towel over it when I need to.

You just want the screen to go dark? You could make a black image and put it up full screen on the monitor to blank it out.

I think iTunes might black out the other screen on its own if you make the video (not the program itself) go full screen if I recall.
