My old 10.5” iPad Pro didn’t have this feature but my new 11” iPad Pro does and I don’t like it. I turned this feature off on my iPhone but I can’t seem to find the toggle switch for the iPad.

Or is it not possible to turn this off on the iPad?

Go to Settings, then go to Accessibility and then 'Touch'. Here you will see option for 'Tap to Wake'. You can turn it off here.

I recently bought an iPad 9th gen. No tap to wake?? What the hell??? I gave it for granted!
I understand sometimes there are technological limitation that prevent certain features to work with some devices and not with others - like stage managers - but this clearly isn't one of them.
When Apple does this, just to push you to buy newer generations.... it really bugs me.

Perfectly relatable! Luckily Apple has a good return policy for when you discover that the base model annoys you.
