I really don't want all my passwords (and other private stuff that I copy) uploaded to Apple and synced into the clipboard of all my devices.

I can not find any option to deactivate Universal Clipboard.

No, I don't have iCloud Keychain activated and never did.

If I copy a password from 1Password it gets uploaded to Apple and I can past it all my other devices.

That's the new Universal Clipboard.

I don't want that. Nobody is concerned about that?

Why not provide a way to turn it off, why do they force people to upload everything they copy to Apple?

Isn't the Universal Clipboard a "feature" in conjunction with just using Sierra?
Can you turn it off there?

No, if you copy on the iPhone you can paste on the iPad as well.....for example.

There might be a way once Sierra officially comes out next week. I do understand your concern though. Frankly, I prefer using a clipboard manager between my devices since it works better for my needs. I use Copied btw (copiedapp.com)

But it has nothing to with Sierra.

iOS is already doing that now...

...between iPhone and iPad and there is no way to prevent the iPhone or the iPad from uploading everything that is copied on the device to Apples Server.

SUCH a disappointment.

There is no point in encrypting the iPhone if you upload all copied passwords to Apple. You can unlock every iPhone, just go through the Clipboard logs.

No, what I'm saying is that when Sierra comes out, often Apple will release an update to iOS as well. In those updates, there may be the defeat feature you are looking for.

You're not one of those conspiracy theorist, Edward Snowden, Mr. Robot types, are you? Look, our entire online lives have already been hacked. Might as well embrace it.

Not really, no. Nothing is being sent in clear text and all your other devices (iPad, Mac, etc., signed in to same iCloud account) should be secured with a password as well.

Besides, 1Password clears the clipboard anyway (replacing it with a blank) after a user-specified delay, so the clear should propigate down to your other devices as well, though I'll admit to not having tried it myself.

So what happens if you have just a single device, is that somehow in use as well (what would it be used for)?

I've gotten this feature working between iOS devices and my iMac. I can't get it to work between iOS devices though. Are we sure that's supposed to be a thing?

Tgara, I use Copied too. It'd be nice to use built-in Apple product though. Do you know if this universal clipboard will handle more than one item? That's the original reason I went to Copied (from LaunchBar) was to get more clips. I have mine set to 50 and use this feature often.

Universal Clipboard does not store any data in the cloud. It works over Wi-Fi and only for around 2 minutes. Also, it only gets the latest clipboard content when you are really pasting something, not before. And lastly, apps like 1Password can define specific rules for their clipboard content, so that passwords and other private information can't be transmitted this way.

Says who? Nowhere is that stated.

Universal Clipboard requires the user to have an iCloud account and you have to be signed in.

That's all Apple says.

I don't know, I guess we will just have to see how the new Uni clipboard works as compared to Copied. That's why I'm keeping my Copied apps on my Mac and iOS devices for now.

Apple uses the iCloud account to determine which devices are yours. Handoff has always been about Bluetooth and sporadic Wi-Fi connections, which is why it doesn’t work on older devices. There doesn’t appear to be any source, but professional reviewers like Ars Technica say this:
Though both of your devices need to be signed into the same iCloud account to trust each other, your data never appears to touch Apple's servers—like Handoff, all communication is local. This means that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi have to be enabled on both devices and both devices need to be within range of each other for copying and pasting to work, but you won't necessarily need an active Internet connection if you don't have one.

That being said, I completely understand where you are coming from. The thought alone makes me uneasy as well. You now have to be consciously aware of what you are doing on one device. I think the only course of action is to disable Handoff.

HAHAHAHAHA this is TOOOOOO funny.

1- Apple could not CARE LESS about your little passwords that guard your p0rn collections, etc. You think you are so interesting/important that *anyone* at Apple could care to even look at your data (out of 180 million icloud users)??? Pleeeeeezzzeeeeee

2- The HUGE, GLARING problem here is 1passowrd, who are those guys? Do you know for a fact their app is not data mining you and selling your bank login to the russians? Is your wifi absolutely secure at home and at work? IF you are so an@l about your privacy then look at areas that are *more* likely to be security weaknesses.

3- Unless you have state secrets or billions to hide, relax and enjoy life dude.

Before you people jump on me understand this is a very sarcastic reply, but hopefully you get the point....

Not sure if this will do it, but I read that bluetooth needs to be turned on for each device.
