How do i un-download iOS 6 update

Software Update went and downloaded the iOS 6 update one its own and now keeps pestering me to install it. To make matters worse it is currently taking about 2GB of my storage space.

I don't want to install iOS 6 till Apple fix Maps. How do i un-download and skip this?

Judging from the answers thus far, i guess no one has a solution.

I have the same problem. It's bad because I have an 8GB model, so the 2+GB that the update eats up slows down my phone noticeably.

Nice. A full system restore would perhaps do the trick, but most likely bring me back to iOS 4. I want to stay on 5.

Even if you went back to 4, I am sure you can download an .ipsw file of iOS 5 to update to via iTunes.

You'll stay on 5. There actually ISN'T a way to downgrade, even if you wanted to. Apple isn't signing 4.x anymore.

They aren't signing 5.1.1 anymore either so if the OP tries to restore it will fail as soon as the phone contacts iTunes' servers. Erase All Content and Settings may work but thats a PITA, plus the phone will probably just redownload iOS 6 in the background as soon as it finds a data connection.
