How do I unlock FW below 1.02?

Hey I can unlock iPhones with FW 1.02 using the method: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6378&jailbreak

Can I use the same method with version 1.00 and 1.01 with out upgrading the FW to 1.02?


If not how do I unlock an iPhone with FW below 1.02 without upgrading to 1.02 on a PC?


If thats not possible how do you upgrade the firmware to 1.02?

Not sure about pre-1.0.2. But if you just hit "check for updates", it will grab 1.1.1 off the server, so do NOT do this. Instead, find a link to the .ipsw for 1.0.2 on the web somewhere and download it. It should be ~90MB. You can then choose where it is by control (or was it shift or command, sorry I forget?) clicking the "restore" button in iTunes. This will then update you to 1.0.2, so you can proceed to unlock.

However, if I were you, if you do not _need_ the unlock this instant, I would wait a few days and see if a 1.1.1 unlock eventuates. Also, there are rumours of the iUnlock/AnySIM unlocks trashing a few critical bytes in nvram, which might be responsible for the bricking problems. So I'd wait until there was more info of this (too late for me, but at least I have a working unlocked phone!).

I can't mess this up.. this is for a friend and he needs it done because hes leaving the country.

Note that these are instructions for 1.1.1 -> 1.0.2, so I'm not sure if you need to do all the "hold home for 10 sec etc" stuff or not, as you are upgrading, rather than downgrading.
