It's saying there's no update obviously because it's thinks I'm already on 4.3/2. Do I need a direct link and iTunes or is there some other way?

Same problem here. I thought doing a restore would help. But it then tells me the latest update for atv is unavailable right now. Wonder if I can download it and install it the same way I installed the beta

The direct links for other devices were posted on the main thread about 4.3 release, but I haven't seen the aTV one yet. Can someone post? Otherwise hopefully the restore option will be activated soon. I wish the "check for update" on aTV would work, cuz restoring causes you to have to enter all the logins and passwords again. And it's still a pain with the "new" keyboard. Glad I only beta-updated 1 of my 3 appleTV's at least I can play with the new software on 2 of them tonight!

I believe you have to download the latest ipsw from Apple. Then go onto iTunes and Command click restore (Shift click restore on a PC) then select the ipsw that you have downloaded and this will restore it.

I mustered the energy to get up and connect it to iTunes. The only button available to me was Restore so I hit it and it started downloading it. Of course, I had to set everything up again when I re-connected it to my TV but I didn't mind too much.

Yep, ended up having to do the same.
