I had issues with Fitness data not showing up on my new phone. After several attempts I deleted the Health data that was stored in iCloud. I first disabled sync on the old phone. After restarting the phone I wanted to upload all the old Health data so I enabled Sync again and started a new backup. Unfortunately only a few MB are being added to the iCloud backup.

How can I fix this? I have years of Health and Fitness data on my old phone that I want to backup. Appreciate any help!

On your old phone, initiate a cloud backup over WiFi. Make sure the account used is the same as your current one. It should backup. The problem with iCloud backup is that eventually the previous backups get deleted to make room for the later ones. That could affect your Health data backup. You could also backup the old phone using Mac or Windows and then safe the file to an external HD as well as another cloud storage source like DropboX etc.

How long did you wait before checking in the health app.
Health data should be part of iCloud sync, not iCloud backup.
A huge database takes hours to decompress on the new phone.
For example, in iCloud my health data is around 400MB, unpacked on device it's close to 2GB.

Enable it on the old phone.
If you look on the bottom of your profile page in the health app you can check the sync status.

Same on the new phone, enable the iCloud sync.
Then you can check in the health app if it's still decompressing

I removed the backup again and connected the old phone to the Macbook and made a new backup.
It seems to take some time for the data to decompress but it seems to work now!
I thought I had lost years of data.

Thank you!
