How do I use my iPhone 3g OS 3.1.2 with any network?

Hey does anybody know how to do this? I've jailbroken countless ipod touches and one previous iPhone but how do I unlock it to use T-Mobile or any other SIM card-using network? I know there's websites charging like $50 to do it but I'd much rather just do it myself. Any help? Thanks!
