How do Siri's personality and looks compare with her rivals?

Researchers at the University of Waterloo reported on a small research study to see how people perceive the personalities, and even the looks, of virtual assistants.

The participants's opinions:

Siri: disingenuous, cunning, individuality defined and pronounced, average height, younger than others, wearing either fashionable casual clothes or strictly business-formal style clothes in dark or bright colors, with straight hair.​

Google Assistant: professional, individuality defined and pronounced, average or taller height, wearing either a hoodie or business-formal clothes in dark or neutral colors, with light hair.​

​

Alexa: genuine, caring, individuality neutral and ordinary, average or shorter height, older than others, wearing casual clothes in dark or neutral colors, with dark wavy hair.​

Do you have opinions about the personalities and looks of your virtual assistant? I think of them as idiot savants, but I don't have an impression that they look like anything.

20 people really is a small study. They've some interesting peeps up there if this is what they came up with... Guess it may be something in the water, perhaps?

I see them as Confused, Spying and Greedy in that order. No physical image, just what they represent.

They're smiley faces atop a system built to coax your data out of you so the corporation behind it can turn a nice profit. Please let's not do this, haha.

I love being able to change the default voice for Siri. As an Australian male, you know he's out to con you but you're ok with it because he sounds so good. Alexa is an Amazon shill. The one I'm not crazy about at all is Google, but probably because the Google Assistant just doesn't work as well as either of the other two. (Alexa is still my favorite.)
