I was just wondering how these devices run ios 9 they are all a5 devices which are the 1st gen ipad mini iPod touch 5th gen ipad 2 and ipad 3. If anyone has these devices can you please report back and describe how these a5 devices run. Thanks

Curious to know too. Is it lighter on older devices and does it restore the pre-iOS 8 user experience like Apple claim?

It's appears to be up in the air at this point with mixed reviews, but it is still only the first beta.

Being the first beta, things look promising. If anything, they will perform better than iOS 8, maybe equal to iOS 7.

iOS 9 beta 1 on my iPhone 4S its really fast. Takes up a bit more memory but I can handle that. The thing I cant handle is the random resprings. That's my only complaint with this beta. And also that when texting from notification bar the keyboard doesn't show up

Resprings are to be expected with betas, especially the first one. It is shaping up to look pretty good though.

Running a clean install on iPad 3. Runs pretty fast, few features missing in this beta (no sketch in Notes, no low power mode for battery, etc) Ran a few apps and games so far, with no problems. Footprint of clean install is small- just under 1GB.

iOS 9 beta 1 destroys my iPad mini.
I have updated back to iOS 8.4 beta 4, and then...
I need to enter multiple passwords for my multiple accounts!

PS: If you upgrade your notes to new version, only notes containing upgraded features will become invisible under iOS below iOS 9 and OS X below 10.11.

Thats strange as the low power mode is on other A5 devices..

Do you have the swipe to left search?

How fast would you say is iOS9 compared to iOS 7.1.2 on the iPad 3? Comparable? Or noticeable slower?

I don't even remember how iOS 7.1.2 was on iPad 3, but I can tell you that as far as I tested it, it seems to be working with less lag than 8.4 beta but still there are hiccups as this is a beta.

Good news! I assume the beta process will fix the Hiccups, and give better performance :)

Id be really interested to hear how it is on the iPad 2. iOS 8 crippled my mums iPad 2 so badly they she doesn't ever use it anymore which is a real shame.

So do notes still sync between iOS 8/10.10 and iOS 9/10.11 providing you don't add the fancy bits to them?

The way it works is you get a prompt asking if you want to upgrade, with a warning that it will only sync to iOS 9.0 and OS X 10.11. I pressed no to upgrade and I can still access a local version only of the fancy bits, and the old ones are still synced and I can edit/create/read across iCloud. I have a attached a pic showing how it appears.

A developer friend let me put the iOS 9 developer beta on one of my 5S's for a day, and it was laggggggggy even on a 5S.

Performance was very sluggish for me, so some people experiencing a sluggish A5 or A5X device may simply be experiencing the "first beta blues"

I'm sure by the time the final version rolls around, perhaps even by the first public beta, performance will get a nice increase all around.

No, it's missing as well. as far as low power nose, the new battery icon is there, just no low power setting on the usage screen

Uh, what should I say?
You can still use the notes on older devices, but new notes created by new app will not be synced with other devices not supporting them.
Plus, notes new features only support icloud notes, therefore notes from other possible support accounts will not be affected.

I have installed iOS 9 on my iPad mini 1 gen (A5) and it is really BAD! The boot process is so slow that half of the time it goes into a Boot Loop due to a boot timeout! NOT RECOMMENDED!

I have seen this, but I choose upgrade.
Now, only notes with new features are not synced across devices running iOS prior to iOS 9.

I don't recommend that either!
I can see the springboard, however everything is extremely slow. I can't use anything a little bit heavy on that.

I forgot what the performance was on iOS 7, but compare with iOS 8.4, iOS 9 runs much slower.

Oh, sorry, I say iPad mini 1.

I've definitely seen it on A5 devices (touch 5, 4S and iPad mini) under battery on the main page so that Is Very strange.
