Click to expand... I read in macworld an ext fw800 hd will improve performance, just wanted to confirm this. (as a boot drive). Doesn't this make the ext hd the main?

No. The internal SATA drive is 3 Gbps (or 1.5 Gbps if it older) while FW800 is 800 Mbps, drive RPM is pretty much irrelevant with that much difference.
