I have looked an cannot find how you can add an Event to my work Iphone 5s. It lets me open the day and such but it does not let me put a specific time it just uses the current time for the event I am looking to add but it is not the correct time for this event and it just shows the following day 24 hours later and then the next day and so on, It has no arrow next to the start / end times on the right side of the screen and just trying to add a reminder event but cannot change the time for the Event.

I am not much with Smart Phones and Technology so I will need some step by step help if someone can help with detailed instructions??

Thanks in Advance

Try simply tapping on the whole Starts or Ends row and it will expand to give you a selection of day and time.

Tried that about 20 times nothing and it only opens either the start time which is now 7pm tap the start time it opens and only shows 7 pm won't allow me to change it did the same for the Ends shows 8 pm but does not allow me to change either start or end times I tap between the two start and end and nothing happens. When it opens either the start or the end as to the time I also attempt to change it by Tapping on the time shown and it also does nothing as to opening or allowing me to make any change?

Thanks I found that on the internet as to tapping while searching for help but it does not work as the two places says it would as well as what you suggested???

So when you tap on Start time for example, do you see a "scroll wheel" to select a time? Like in the following image:

Yes that is all I see yet the other internet info suggests there is an arrow to the right side but my IPhone does not show / offer anything but what someone pictured. Again rarely use any of these features and but it is not as simple as so many think it is for a "novice" I just basically use the IPhone for phone calls, Txt, a few emails mostly receiving them, stopwatch and the compass and get events I need to know about. Never set a time or anything thus my question.

On that screen that C DM posted above, you just slide your finger up or down on whatever field you want to change.

I have and it does nothing like it is set and can not be change does not matter what I do and all have try each too many times as suggested nothing allows me to do "anything"

Thanks I am not tech smart enough I guess.

Thanks for the suggests but I was hoping to add an event to let me know about a conference call I need to be involved in on Friday at a specific time, guess I will just watch the clock and hope I don't miss that time... So much for me and a Smart Phone just seems to be more than I am and I am not much with these Tech Gadgets and it does not work as suggested so far I have attempted all of these 20 plus times each one of these suggestions and so far none have worked as suggested!!! Guess you have to be under 40 to know these things... Wished I had my old flip phone don't seem to know how to use all these "features that rarely work as suggested.

Thanks too late now to worry anymore, won't use that feature again since it does not work for me...

keep trying it. its probably a fleck of the hand. you might consider finding someone who can try it with you, to see what they see, and then describe that too. if they can't get it to work, then you definitely need to get some apple genius advice.

i will say that i've always wondered if the texture sometimes affects the screen touch in some apps, if you have any texture or perhaps lack of texture, or if there's something between the cover and the screen or if you are on the glass itself. there might be a few things that may factor that have a way of happening to those of us who just begin. so don't worry, and don't blame yourself LOL.

just show some one else with an iPhone and see if they can do it on yours.

My in-laws, both retired for quite a few years now, use the iPhones extensively. I'm pretty sure use isn't limited to those under 40. ;)

I'll second the recommendation of asking someone to walk you through it in person, if for no other reason than to make sure the phone is actually working.

This link may be of general use with your new phone: Official iPhone user's manual

One thing you might consider: there are calendar apps available in the app store that allow you to use "natural language" to input your events by typing statements like "Dr. Smith from 4:30-5:30 PM on 3/13" in the subject line. The app then sets your two hour afternoon appointment on next Friday, the 13th, without further input from you.

Two apps that use this technique are Fantastical (paid app) and Calendars by Readdle (free, or their more complicated paid app, Calendars 5). This function is not available with the stock calendar app, though if you're comfortable talking to your phone, you can ask Siri (out loud) to set up an appointment using the same type of phrasing: "Siri, schedule a meeting with Dr. Smith from 4:30-5:30 PM on March 13th".

I'd also recommend taking one of the introductory classes Apple offers.

Thanks but by then it will be the time to make the Conference Call was hope to get an alert 15 minutes prior. So much for a "Smart" Phone as a Tool... just smarter than I am! I am done trying to figure these things out I will use it as a Basic Cell Phone, wasted too much time looking for the answer and so far none have "WORKED"! Not as so many have said it does, too complicate and yet it is to be so SIMPLE... Not Young enough to play hours to get it working and I am not all things with an IPHONE and never will be when it does not work as ALL Suggested it would or should!

Time to leave it as a Toy that does not actually work since it does not...!!!

Try watching how it's done in the following short video (the most relevant part starts around 34s into the video):

If you are really struggling, you could ask Siri to add it for you, then you only have to speak instead of messing with the scroll wheels

Work are not allow to add apps to their Iphone like siri not allow to add anything unless approve which is only txt, email, phone conversation, if it came with the Iphone but they have to approve anything that goes on their phone...

Way Too late the conference call was 830 am this morning... and almost missed the call but I just used my personal old Flip Cell Phone and set it for Alarm 5 minutes prior as to not miss the time!!! Guess my old personal phone is easier to set and use than the"IPHONE" was simple to set the than not being to set an event with an Alert on the IPhone...

Lesson learned won't use the IPhone again for a reminder Alert ever again.

Siri is part of the iPhone so nothing to install really.

Did you watch the video I linked in the previous reply? Does it work differently for you somehow compared to the video?

As for making calls and even alarms or reminders (which are different than calendar events), you can still use the iPhone for that too even if you ran into some issues with the calendar for some reason (basically it can still be done without the flip phone).

As I stated it as to be approved and we got informed though it is available we are not to use that App... Again I have to follow Corp Policy I know others don't but there is a reason and they have advise we cannot have it on their "IPHONE" it is their Phone and they make the rules... for those that have one that is "personal" there is a big difference I like my job cannot afford to lose it breaking company policy!!! I guess some don't understand this but my job pays my bills... They have a list of approved apps but not many we can have on their phone... Just they business policy.
Will leave it there won't follow this thread again...

It's already on the iPhone just like the calendar is, for example. Is it disabled on the phone, is that what it is? Otherwise it can be used just like calling or messaging or anything else on the phone.

Again, what about the calendar video about adding events posted earlier? Did you watch it and try it?
