Backup everything is the motto!

How do you guys backup your music uploads? The songs you rip and upload, can you re-download them DRM free so you can back it up? (i'm only talking about music you ripped when using AM, not Apple Music)

Before you say keep a copy of the music in your library, my library is a mess and I want to consolidate everything and sort it out in the cloud and use that to create a master backup.

Any tips?

I wouldn't rely on Apple Music as a backup for my ripped or otherwise locally created song files.

For me, if the album exists in Apple Music I do NOT add my own ripped copy to iTunes. AM has screwed up multiple albums that I did that way. I ended up starting clean and only adding my own music if AM did not have it.

I don't want to rely on AM as the backup which is why the post! :)
I'd like to create the library in the cloud and back that up first. I know it's a bit backwards but i'd just like to know if I can take a copy of what is mine.

I don't think it works like that...

The thing is, anything created in the cloud. even your music, is not your your machine. That is,, if your situation were possible, it may not even be possible to back it up and rely on it 100%. Those that do, are probably the ones who have lost data at some point since they created.

You can't use iCloud Music library as a backup service.

All the music that gets uploaded gets DRM attached to it. So without an active Match of Apple Music subscription you will be unable to play your files later
