The built-in ad blocker on chrome doesn't work too well for me. Any recommendations?

Damn Google! Lol

All right, will install another browser.

I had Xiaomi Mi Mix, Google Pixel 2 XL and I used Firefox with ublock Origin extension. If your phone is rooted than Adaway.

Google Chrome is terrible on mobile, switch to firefox with adblock extension or maybe Brave browser.

Samsung Internet browser—best web browser on Android. It replicates much of what makes Safari great on iOS, including the ability to use adblockers. It also has a plug-in for desktop Chrome to sync bookmarks with mobile Samsung internet browser.

ads on the web? use firefox with adblocker extension.
ads on apps? more complicated, root it and use firewall. for the hassle, its not just ads, by restricting internet access for apps, you are exponentially improving your privacy too.

Brave has been my go-to browser now, on my Android as well as on my mac and Windows machines. No need to deal with extensions and additional stuff that have questionable support/longevity.

If proper web rendering is more important to you go with the best browser Chrome + 2nd best ad blocker Adguard.

If for some odd reason you want the best ad blocker with 2nd best web renderer go with Firefox + uBlock Origin extension.

Want to like Samsung Internet browser but it didn't play a video for me the other day that the other browsers played so it's more of a 3rd option.

How did you get Adguard to work with Chrome? Mine says it only works with Samsung Browser or Yandex.

I've been using Blokada to block ads on Chrome, but it seems to have broken some apps (Samsung Pay and Health seem to think I've rooted the phone and refuse to open)

Download from their site and sideload. Optional but I normally disable the built-in firewall and only enable ad blocking for specific apps.

Edge browser. I’ve never found a decent browser for android prior to it. I’m pretty fussy about jitter when scrolling.

the most sure proof way to block ads on Android is having to root your phone and then you can install add away and several other system stopping are blockers that work perfectly going to block ads in apps besides just your web browser

I use Adguard Pro or Block This. They both will block ads system wide, especially ads in apps. Adguard Pro costs money but if you buy it during the holiday sale, it's only like $10 but a lifetime license and Block This is free.

I used to root back in the Note 4 days to block ads in apps but you no longer have to do that.

Can be done without root
