Hey everyone,

so now that I got three bands for my new Apple Watch Sport (black sports band, third party black SS and third party brown leather loop), I was wondering how often you guys change your bands. Personally, I'd like to change it every couple of days, or sometimes maybe even twice a day (black sports band for uni, leather loop for going out at night etc.).

However, I can imagine that changing the bands this often would sooner or later damage the mechanism. Obviously it's too soon for anyone to have any real longterm data, but maybe those of you who change their bands frequently could quickly chime in and let us know if you've already noticed any effects your band-changing behavior had on the Watch's slide-in mechanism. I'm sort of afraid of wearing the mechanism out to the point where the bands no longer fit tightly, or maybe even fall out.

Yeah I know, all of this sounds like paranoia considering the fact that I've only had the Watch for 2 weeks now. But still it's an interesting question, and I couldn't find any official Apple guidelines / tips on this topic.

I've had my Watch since launch and for the first month or so only had one band. Since early June I've kept changing the bands every couple of days, sometimes more than once a day. I only haven't been changing since getting my orange Sport Band two weeks ago.

Anyway, can't imagine why there'd be any issues, unless you have some substandard 3rd party adapters that's causing damage because of poor fit.

All of the locking mechanism is in the band itself. Sure you have to push the button on the underside of the watch to remove the band. But there is nothing to damage on the watch.

Sorry if this sounds like a "newbie" question, but I'm going to be starting to change bands regularly.

Do you only have to push the button when releasing the band, correct? Or should you also do it when attaching the band.

Thanks!

Shouldn't need to when inserting the adapter / attaching the band.

If you look closely at the adapter on the band, you'll notice on one side it bulges up in the middle. Press on it with your finger.

As the adapter slides in, this bit is pushed in which in turn pushes out the springloaded metal bit on the opposite side. In the Watch case itself is another springloaded bit. You press the button to push the adapter's bit back in when you slide out; and when you're not pressing it, there is a depression on the inside of the groove for the adapter to lock in. Have a look and play and you'd understand how it should work and if there's a problem, if it's more likely the Watch or the adapter.

Thank you!!! It totally makes sense now & I see what you mean with the bit on the band!

Makes things so much easier & I feel better about changing bands more often now!
