How do you determine the build date?

Just received a MBA, but it came loaded with 10.6, not 10.6.4 or even 10.6.3. How can I determine the build date of this machine?

It was made within the last week, but has 10.6. Software update is currently downloading 10.6.4. In my experience in the past, when ordering macs directly from apple (shipped from China) they have the latest or next to latest version of the operating system.

Has anyone else had these experiences?

Maybe they have just gone to installing the same image as is on the restore media and figure software update will get you caught up. Not sure. I believe I had a bunch of updates to install back in the day when I bought mine (albeit from an Apple Store and not online).

I didn't check which software version mine was shipped with, but it did update immediately and is now on 10.6.4. so it was probably exactly the same.

Mine was built in the last week of June and shipped from Prague (which meant it arrived within 2 days), from which I gather MBAs aren't really selling that well...

My MBA (2.13GHz SSD) was a refurb and came with 10.6.0 too. And I have install discs for 10.6.0.

speaking of builds. I was wondering if HDD's work universally on all MBA rev's. I read, i believe on IfixIT.com, that they did. So i bought a 120gb samsung 4200 1.8in hdd that claimed it was for rev b and c only. I have a rev a.


Just gauging some opinions.

My memory is that the Rev a mba has a different (pata based) hard drive interface so drives suitable for rev b/c won't work.
