This is driving me nuts. I can't figure out how to disable the qc launch in the volume icon when you press volume up or down. I don't want that ability to qc SMS via the volume controls! Thanks!

Anyone? I just don't want the Quick Compose to pop up in the volume icon when you put the volume up and down. :(

I think you have to enable the "Use Libactivator". If you don't have it installed, install it from Cydia. Do a search for Activator. You can then re-assign how you want your up and down volume button works.

Yeah I had the same questions, but Activator didn't seem to do it for me, the volume up and down was still enabled even after I changed the command.

Exactly. This is a terrible oversight. I can't believe you can't disable this! I was so close to purchasing the trial->full version, too. :(

...and they needed you to purchase a copy to stay in business. Darn.

bitesms has a discussion forum on their website. You might want to ask about this there.

Also, why does this bother you?

Because this is the hacks forum? The first part of your response wasn't exactly nice, you know... Not everyone wants to join every forum out there for every app they may or may not use...

In any case, it looks like you can't disable this feature. Shame.

Continuing in ignorance is what's a shame.

I have activator installed after installing sbsettings.

I just went into the bitesms settings and turned on "libactivator" and this removed the option from the volume control. Try it.

Tried this, works! I now have swipe up from bottom to activate QR and swipe down from status bar to activate qTweeter :D

It's ok Mike. You can go back to the basement now.

...and you can go back to detention. Heaven forbid people would actually ask the developer for a solution. Nah, just badmouth the product with incorrect information on a discussion board. Real mature behavior.

Didn't work for me. Libactivator is on.

If you exit out of a text screen to the screen where it shows all the different people you've sent texts to, at the top, next to the compose icon, you'll see an icon that looks like a gear. Tap that and it'll bring up the options menu.

Down the list you've got Lock Screen Mode, Unlock Screen Mode, etc. Go into each of these and tap Features. In that screen, you'll see a slider to turn Quick Compose on or off.

That's how you do it. :D

Thank you! :)

I thought you had to press the volume button and then actually tap on the screen in the middle to QC? why would that bother you? why not just press the volume up and down and just not tap on the screen when the little volume picture comes up? Unless I'm wrong sorry I only used bitesms for a short period of time.

No that's right. My issue is that I change volume and then want to hit the keypad button or speakerphone, and you can't because you need to wait.

Anyway, next mission - replace hideous bitesms icon!

You're welcome! This is something that drove me crazy for a while...lol. I love the app, but have no use for the quick compose function and always had to wait for the volume screen to fade away before I could tap anything on the screen.

Cheers! :D

Yes thank you for the help. Whereas some people in this thread are quite unhelpful, it's good to get some real assistance!

i'm a newb at this... how do i install the latest beta?

open cydia. hit manage. hit sources. hit edit (top right). hit add (top left). copy paste that into the bar. hit add. let it run, once its done search for bitesms and it should be the beta version. youll have the retina icon after installing if so. gl
