I was just playing around with the iPad Mini and just now realized that you can hookup a mouse to it and it's actually useful. I hooked up a keyboard to get it to work like almost a desktop (my case has a kickstand). So a few questions as I couldn't get these to work:

- How do you scroll up and down (I'm using a Magic Mouse)?
- How do you get back to the home screen?
- Can you scroll left and right with gestures?
- Should I try my Apple Touchpad?
- Anything else cool that you can use this for?

I watched a few videos and figured out how to do things. This stuff needs some work but it makes the iPad Mini far more usable for me. I figured out how to scroll and it's not great but usable. I may try a mouse with a real scroll wheel to see if that works instead of press to drag for scrolling. I may start using the iPad Mini for Zoom conferences instead of using my laptops so that the laptops don't spin up the fans.

Wait, you have to actually press on the mouse?

Yes.

It appears that the original Apple Mouse (maybe called the Mighty Mouse) and the first generation trackpad don't support gestures for the iPad. So no scroll, multitouch, etc. Too bad because this stuff works fine with macOS. I'm going to get an ArcMouse as that mouse works on the iPad with the expected gestures.

I wish Apple supported their older hardware better.

The MM1 worked before 13.4 so this is a bug. Lots of people reporting it in Apple Support Communities. I guess I could try waiting until 13.7 to see if they fix it.
