How do you eject a disc from Mini without keyboard or mouse?

Hi all,

I recently obtained a Mini which I've connected to my TV for watching movies/etc. I don't have a keyboard or mouse on the Mini.

I ripped a disc the other night (via a remote connection) and realized that I don't know how to eject the disc from the Mini without a keyboard, mouse, or remote connection from my MBP. I suppose there is probably some way to script MTR and then execute a disktool afterwards but what if I'm just watching a disc and want to eject it?

So, I'm looking to those of you who also use a Mini in a home theatre setup to find-out how you address ejecting the disc? Or any other tips on automating MTR + ejecting, or whatever.

eject via remote connection

What sort of remote connection are you using, do you have access to terminal via the remote connection you are using. if so send the command drutil eject, and it should eject the CD.

How did you send the commands to rip a disc without the keyboard or mouse.

Hmm hadn't really thought of this before but this post made me wonder (I dont have a mini) - since its BYOKMD (bring your own keyboard mouse display) what happens if you bring a non apple keyboard without a eject key? I guess you have to do everything by dragging or the various on screen places to eject? Or does a key on every other non apple keyboard correspond to eject in OSX?
 
I have mini that i used at a entertainment system but now it is in my car for entertainment...

I do not think I have ever put a disc in it, lol, ever

But yea I guess you would just have to drag to the trash or right click, eject.

I have the iPhone app iTap that you could use as a keyboard and a mouse but I just looked and it does not seem to have an eject button.

What do you mean exactly. The problem I have is that if I don't have a physical keyboard attached it asks for the bluetooth keyboard even if I tried to turn bluetooth off...

Is that the same problem that you are having?

Typically F12 will perform the eject function on a keyboard that is not an Apple model, or one not optimized for Mac use.
 
I don't have a keyboard/mouse on the machine because it's connected to my TV in the entertainment system. I have spare mice/keyboards already, but that doesn't help when the Mini is acting as an embedded media center.

To answer the question about how I started the rip, I did it via a remote connection from my MBP. However, when I needed to eject the disc, the MBP was turned-off and in another room, thus prompting me to wonder how to eject the disc. I ended-up getting the MBP and ejecting remotely, but that's not optimal, although it may end-up being necessary.

I figured that there are so many Minis out there used for media centers that there'd be an obvious answer to this, but maybe not. I suppose I could just spend some money on a wireless keyboard/mouse and hide it next to/under the couch when not using it, but that seems pretty wasteful when I do most of the daily stuff via the IR remote.

If your using front row with the apple remote. If you press menu while watching the dvd (you may have to press pause first i cant recall) a sub-menu comes up with the option to 'eject disk'.
