Hey guys. I couldn't fall asleep last night and I have to be up for work at 7:30, which is earlier than I am usually awake at school. So, I usually go to bed around 11 or midnight, but I couldn't fall asleep. I ended up watching tv until I got tired.

Any tips for falling asleep... besides perusing the Internet or watching tv?

Thanks.

Take a melatonin supplement a few hours before bedtime.

Makes you sleepy without any side effects.

Can fall asleep anywhere, anytime !!!!
Work all hours god sends and then some.

Yesterdays hours... in work 7:15am, left 4:30pm (not bad)
Called out 7pm worked til 1am.
slept until 3am.
Called again at 3am worked until 5am.
Got up 9.30 am and drove to work.

Total 16 hours, 8 of them overtime :D

Reading, not being too hot. However, having to be up unusually early is a sure-fire way to be up till god knows when. Annoying but true. :(

thanks for the replies.

i don't know about the vodka suggestion but i can def try listening to the radio and i haven't really read any non-school books in a while, so i'll try reading a novel or something.

If you read a novel and you like it, you won't want to go to sleep.

Try the melatonin. It's just a supplement. It'll make you sleepy faster, you'll sleep through the night but you'll rise at your normal wakeup time.

where can i get this and what exactly is melatonin?

I find that when I know I have to get up early I can never sleep that well. This is what I do:
1)Set your alarm clock earlier before you go to bed, that way you can almost forget that you have to get up so early.

2)Go to bed at roughly the same time, you may be more tired in the morning but least you would have gone to sleep. If i go to bed earlier I always stay awake.

I have friends that can fall asleep when they want and wake up when they want! They make me sick. If i go to bed at 11pm like i normally do i wake up at 7.30am. If i go to bed at 2am or 3am i wake up again at 7.30am and I am really tired.

If i can't fall asleep, 3 fioricets will do the trick.

Normally can't fall asleep due to my wonderful headaches, which is bad today

Too much Anime!? thats whats probably giving you the headaches! (Only kidding!)

I put the radio on sleep timer and listen to BBC Radio Five Live. The shows are available online... I highly recommend Rhod Sharp's Up All Night (Monday-Wednesday) for transporting you to the land of nod. That's not an insult to our Rhod, he just has a very relaxing voice. Good show!
