How do you feel about iOS 9 auto download

I found iOS 9 sitting on my device today without me taking any action. I was surprise that after people getting angry with iOS 7 auto download apple is still doing such thing today. Though I do have 128GB iPhone 6, I don't think I am going to update my device in a short term as apple had disappointed my in last several iOS updates. Apple was boasting their newest iOS adopting rate which seems laughable to me now.

What do you guys think?

Same thing people have thought about it for years as it's pretty much always been there. As of iOS 7.1 you can delete the downloaded update and not worry about it.

Technically Apple can do whatever they want with iOS and you have comply because you clicked "I AGREE" to the license agreement which gives Apple that control.

C DM, before you chime in about how EULA's can be argued in court I'm just stating the facts as it stands now.

I really don't like how they cram updates down my throat, especially when they're not ready, in this case iOS 9.

But there's a way to avoid this, by initiating the update yourself by accepting the terms, removing it from storage right as it starts, and then declining the terms afterwards.

This is how I've been avoiding iOS 9 updates on my phone and the unremovable Settings notification badge.

I know there are terms to accept in the beginning but I don't quite understand the part "removing it from storage right as it starts". And how could there be "terms afterwards" as you already removed the download in the previous step?

For what I can remember, as soon as you tap 'Agree' there would only be one way in.

When it starts to download it appears in your storage like other apps appear there and you can select it there and delete it. After that you can manually go into Settings and perhaps try to get the update again manually and this time reject the terms of service that appears, which supposedly will stop it and not prompt you to get it again later nor try to download it again on its own.

Thanks a lot! I did what you said as I understood. I deleted the update file from under 'manage usage' and I went back to 'software update' to see the button become 'Down and install' which I tapped and disagreed with terms came afterwards. Now I am 95% satisfied except for the annoying '1' badge hanging on my Settings app. Well, at least this is way better than having 1GB taken by apple.

Thanks again and I am feeling sorry for my friend who has a 16GB ip 5 and was forced to update as there was almost no space left on his phone after downloading the update. This info would have been extremely helpful to him
