How do you feel about MB/MB pro temperatures

Hi there,

When my MB is idle, it has temperature around 54 degrees celsius.
When I give him the hard time and convert for example movies, temperature on the CPU can reach > 80 degrees celsius (until the fan speeds up and cools processor down a bit). Even when fan reaches its max rpm's and CPU is under heavy load, temperature can sometimes be around 72-78 degrees.

I do not know how you feel about this, but for me this seems to be much too high. I have no idea what is the max operating temperature for mobile Core 2 duo's, but I would be scared to leave my machine working with this kind of heat for couple of hours.
My friend has Macbook Pro and although his temperatures are a bit lower, still, those are pretty high figures.

What are your experiences and opinions about this.
Has anyone given his MB/MB pro hard time without consequences?
Should I be worried about high operating temperatures or just consider it as something normal for this line of laptops?

While writing this post I have 55 degrees on my laptop with 1800 rpms of my fan :)

At 2000 rpm my Macbook Pro sits at a cool 50 degrees Celsius, when the fans are at 3000 rpm, I'm usually around 42-44 degree Celsius, which seem just fine to me.

Only when I'm doing something really intensive do the fans get up to 64-67 degrees Celsius.

My MacBook Pro 1st gen was much hotter than this when I first got it. It would idle around 65C and got up into the 90's when working hard. I installed FanControl and tweaked the fan speeds and slopes and now it idles at 45C with the fans running at about 2500rpm and never gets above 70C even when working hard.

If you're worried about the heat, install FanControl, otherwise don't. Your call. For me, it transformed a 'notebook' computer into a proper laptop.
 
I use SMCfancontrol or CoreDuoTemp to check the temperature of my MacBoook.

I don't tend to think about the temperatures of it, I've had it over a year and had no heat-related issues at all...I just let it do what it does.

Mine would consistently idle around low-mid 60's and at full scream touch the low 80's. I now run smcFanControl at 2500 rpm and use CoolBook to undervoltage the CPU at 0.9875V and it idles in the high 50's and barely stretches over 70 under full load. I also placed 4 small rubber feet upside-down on my desk and rest my MB on them to improve the airflow underneath.

I own MBP and playing games even with 6000rpm makes it hot ~80 degrees
Is it danger for the machine ? I remember my old PC laptop was shut down by bios when temp reached 80 degrees.

My 1st gen MBP gets really hot, too hot for my comfort (both mental and physical if it is sitting on my lap). I got a fan stand and now it stays much cooler.

Same here, I know the CPU is rated for 100C but my GPU gets just as hot. I only worry about the heat when I play FSX in windows. I have not had any problems but I wonder about the long term effect of the heat. Does anyone have any comment about the long term affect of the heat
 
my macbook pro idles at 45-50 Celsius, but when i'm converting movies and playing games in bootcamp, it reaches up to 80-85 celsius, is this normal? i'm kinda worried about my temperature...
