I've been wondering if there is any way to find SCSI hard drives for decent prices. Looking on Craigslist shows up nothing, and everything that I find on eBay is way overpriced, at least the ones that are 50-pin, or external drives. Often times the drives cost more than the old Macs themselves.

It's something we'd all like to see.

All I can suggest is an eBay search with a price range criteria with an email notification. (or craigslist if it has such a function).

Other than that, buying another machine in the blind hope it contains a working drive.

There are other solutions (like SCSI2SD) but they can be expensive too. Or you can try a 68Pin SCSI with an adapter but not all drives or adapters seem to work. YMMV

I gave up on the fast SCSI drives as they were ridiculously overpriced. I have a 68 pin and an 80 pin drive resp. in my MacSEs. Avoid Compaq and IBM drives - they never seem to work, at least with older Macs. I have had the best results with Western Digital - most even have terminator pins on the drive, which saves you a dongle.

Simply put, I've got a fair share of SCA80 SCSI HDDs, I've been thinking of buying an adapter board to convert the SCA80 connector to a 50pin connector.

Though beware, this might not work... For all I know the drives I have are 15KRPM or 10K RPM, I don't know if they'll overload the Mac's PSU.

I hope one day to get a IIfx or a SE/30, but that's a pie in the sky for the time being.
