You have to be a paid member of Apple Developer Connection. If you are, then log in to your account and you can probably find a beta somewhere. I'm not, so I couldn't tell you more than that. Being a member of ADC is the only legal way to get a Panther beta.

you will need a ski mask, and a gun. then go to the apple store. should be obvious from there.

No, it's not. ;)

u find a leaked copy. there's client/server programs and point-to-point sharing programs. with client/server programs u have to haggle with admins who never learned how to share. the newer the community, the less it is overrun with greedy admins. p2p is a free-for-all, but is really much better on the PC.

trying to leech 1GB+ (there are 3 CDs) of material is a really difficult task, since u can't really get something for nothing online unless u know someone.

go to versiontracker and look for

KDX (client/server)
carracho (client/server)
hotline (client/server)
bit torrent (p2p)
limewire (p2p)
aquisition (p2p)

then do a google search and find out how to use them. then u can get anything u want with a little patience and time.

there are 3 cds...the first one is OS, the second apps, and the third xcode. good luck.

rower, this is a little off topic, but how long did the invitation process for AppleSeed take for you? I've been able to sign in for a while, but it says they're completing the invitation process and setting up the seed. How long should that take?

Yeah I don't expect 10.3 Beta to be great.

Personally a lot of the P2P programs are getting swamped... For a 1 GB download anyone who would host it would have to have a great deal of band-witch.

Look, just wait for the full version like the rest of us.

my machine is pumping out over 2.5MBits on a p2p, i wouldn't discount it. share the wealth i say.

i got xcode at over 800kB/s

BitTorrent has a copy...just do a search for panther. Let's just say Panther is a lot faster and expose is kickass ;)

Also, watch out since it d/l's it as a gzip file so I had to unzip it using terminal commands.

stuffit didnt work 4 u?

on windows both winzip and winrar do it and on the mac stuffit should work jsut fine to unzip that file.

A question for people who have been in earlier betas - when new builds come out do you have to download the new one from the ADC site, or do patches come in via Software Update?

I didn't try it b/c a friend of mine who already installed it said that stuffit wouldn't work. So he walked me through the whole terminal thing.

i've never seen software update used for beta OS X (any version), it's just doesn't make sense any way u look at it.

That's what I thought, but it was worth asking anyway.

I downloaded BitTorrent, and I've looked around everywhere, but I can't find out how to search for things to download. There's no way to search from within the app, and I've looked at a couple sites related to BitTorrent, but I haven't found anything about Panther. Where can I look? I'm still kinda undecided on whether I want to get it...but curiosity seems to be getting the better of me :)

doesn't this violate the warez/piracy rule? ... i think its ok to answer the initial question of is it availble publicly but since it is not then its illegal to distribute it...and then asking where you can get because you can find any torrents, i've seen lesser things taken off these forums.
