I’ve been using iPadOS since beta 1

Whenever I bring up the app carousel (usually to quickly answer an iMessage or fb messenger) I do not know how to properly exit the “iPhone windowed app” that is floating above my main app

I get stuck in awkward gestures to go back and focus on my main app and the only way i found to exit this mode is to swipe up like on my iphone. But when I do that the next time I wanna go to iMessages per say, it it opens up full size. Is iPadOS meant to remember my app configuration? Am I missing not doing the proper gesture? Is there a way to rapidly bring back to front my fullsize app?

Hopefully that was clear enough!

Put your finger on the left edge of the slideover window and swipe it off to the right.
