After my personal greeting, the lady comes on and says, "At the tone please record your message, after recording you may hang up or press 1 for more options."

I've called other iPhones were after the personal greeting, it immediately beeps and you can begin recording your message. Anyone know how to get rid of the automated message?

Maybe the other phones youve left messages on are not on the ATT network? I don't think there is anything that can be done about this. All my buddies that have an iphone say the same thing after their greeting.

Is it really that annoying to you that you'd actively search to get rid of it? just wandering.

Just trying to make it more convenient for callers so that they don't need to be given instructions on how to leave a vm.

Interestingly, after some more research, I found out that because 1st generation iPhones were the first to use visual voicemail, AT&T has all those iPhones on different legacy servers, which allow the user to choose a greeting that goes straight from the personal greeting to a beep. So, it seems that 1st gen iPhones allow you to exclude the message, but on later versions you're stuck with it.
