Hello
My phone synced with itunes and registered, and is on my wifi network, but still not connected to O2
My question is, how do i get the GPS activated so it can tell me where I am, (i know already i am at home)
but when i go out in my garden and press the where am i button, it doesnt know?
is there a switch i have to do
there is a location services switch which i have turned on but no joy
i presumed there would be an indicator which would say if the GPS chip was powered on or off?

Without A-GPS the lock of the satellites takes much longer, sometimes up to 15 minutes. Driving around might help too.

still not working

How long did you wait? When I first got my Garmin, the initial raw lock took somewhere on the order of 3-4 minutes. If I drive around with the unit turned off, so it starts up in a place other than where it last had a lock, the location lock can still take 1-2 minutes.

Apparently there's no assistance available in the UK yet. Anyway, try these steps (this goes for anyone, anywhere):

1) Reset. (Hold down Home button and Standby/Power until apple appears)

2) Settings > General > Location Services = on

3) Stand outside or inside near equator-facing window for at least 10 minutes. Rain, trees, etc can slow down satellite lock.

4) If still doesn't work, turn off 3G and try again, then turn 3G back on once locked.

went for a quick drive after making sure my wifi downloaded the local area into the iPhones maps cache, and got off my estate, and, ping, it told me where i was

found my way back home to post this and let you know

My GPS worked right away after activating through iTunes. Walked aside for a quick test and gave me exact location within a few seconds. Indoors it isn't as accurate of course but still is very neat to see.

Loopt works great with the location, kinda neat how it works.
