How do you guys feel about giving Apple info about your iPhone?

I had this window pop up a few times now, I am not sure what to do , having a jailbroken iPhone and all I always answer "Don't Send"

As a person who enjoys his Jailbroken phone and who supports the hacking community, would answering "Send to Apple" to this info make me work against the Hacking community and for Apple? or really it doesn't make much difference?


Also when Apple does "diagnose" my iPhone remotely through iTunes, are they detecting and finding out if it is Jailbroken or it isn't actually possible for them to do that?

Does this type of information and diagnostics help Apple to build more secure software and OS for the iPhone that results in groups like the Dev-Team to have harder time coming up with builds to Jailbreak and unlock Apple's latest OS's?

To have solid answers to these questions it might require to have some serious (or inside) expertise, but if anybody can shed some more light into this, that would be great thanks.

hehe I totally anticipated getting in crap from you .. and sure enough'

I have to admit though, there are some really cool, professional and knowledgeable people on these forums and I can't resist to come back and read and learn more and occasionally yep..start a new thread...

Let's just say I wont post new threads relating to little nit picky iphone j/b..unlocking topics/questions ( But I still cannot promise or guarantee that I wont do this, so...)


I will post less and they will be more about general discussions about things relating to iphone and hacking, such as this thread.

I send it sometimes because I want them to know I have a jailbroken phone haha. I want them to see what I have installed somehow and work it into the actual OS. I'm sure this isn't what actually happens. I also do this on my mac if I have to force quit CyberDuck or Chicken of the VNC, for the same reason.

Hit the details button. That usually tells you EXACTLY what information they are collecting. Unless an application shows me what it's collecting and I won't approve it to send information back. If I can see it and it's just simple stuff like CPU, RAM, HDD space, Display resolution, then I always send back. That's all very useful for developers to know. That way they know when developing how far they can push their product.

I'm a bit interested in having tethering and being able to add another SIM card than my carrier's in some weeks after, i don't really care about nodding it or having extra apps, i'm very happy with the iTunes ones, i just need two functionalities that my carrier doesn't allow me to have

I currently don't have it nor unlocked nor jailbroken but i want to do it soon, any suggestions?

Yes, go back in time and stop yourself from doing that restore. Since Apple has stopped signing the firmwares <3.1.3, you would now be stuck at a place that you can no longer jailbreak and unlock (well, at least not for the forseeable future, unless the Dev Team comes out with a new exploit soon).
