Hey Guys,

I would like to know how do you guys use your iPad Pro Magic Keyboard ? I have the 11” iPad Pro Magic Keyboard. So do you guys use it naked ? as in you guys directly type on the Keyboard with your fingers ? or do you guys have like a Keyboard Protector and then you type on that ? I am talking about this product - https://postimg.cc/G9F7kxHh

https://www.amazon.com/Keyboard-Generation-MXQU2LL-Protective-Accessories/dp/B08CX712H1

My feeling is as much as I want to use the Keyboard Protector it will make the typing experience very bad as it is rubber and since you would be typing on Rubber it would make the typing a little difficult since you would be typing on Rubber but otherwise it is such a good investment to protect your expensive investment from wear and tear. What do you guys think ? How do you guys use it ? Please share your experience and thoughts ?

I sold my 12.9" IPP with MKB after about 18 months, and purchased a 13" MBP instead. One main reason is that the keyboards for the iPads are just not what I consider every day, industrial quality. Taking in and out of a bag all day the edges of the fabric/rubber starts to get frayed and worn. The outside surfaces quickly get scratched up and dented if they are in your bag with another hard object. I have used keyboard protectors on laptops in the past and not a fan.

I use a keyboard protector, it saved me more than once. I don't find it is a terrible experience.

When I use the MKB for my 2021 12.9” iPad Pro, naked

Aren't you worried about if typing for long and after some time, maybe months it will, the keys will have the shadow effect on it (Worn Out Effect) as it happens on all keys after constant usage ?

Hi Guys,

I can’t seem to find anything other than Pad and Quill or Coverbuddy for the 2020 iPad Pro with magic keyboard. Am I missing a trick or is a sleeve my best option.

I’ve discounted the Coverbuddy as I’ve heard bad things about working with peripherals and it not quite closing.

Any advice would be really welcome. Thanks!

When I first purchased the Apple Magic Keyboard for the iPad, I was shocked at the cost. Alas, here we are.
I use the device as is, and have been for about a year now. Thus far, no issues on my end using the keyboard. I actually like it. The only thing that comes to mind for me, is the back of the case/keyboard gets dirty, and can be a little difficult to clean at times.

However, I will add, just this week, I have been researching trading in my iPad Pro, for a MacBook Air. The MacBook Pro is a little outside my price range. Plus, I have a Mac Mini M1. So, there's that...

I use it without a protector. I have the white one and use it every day since last June. It’s still clean to this day

Do you guys do not see that oily, worn out look on the Keys as it appears after sometime of usage ? If you know what I mean ?

I‘m typing this reply on the original 2018 magic keyboard. I use it daily with my 2018 12.9. I’ve had zero issues with it. As for as upkeep I do nothing other than simple cleaning. It has been in many bags/backpacks while traveling internationally. Pleasantly surprised but no fraying on the edges. I expected it to fray because my Smart Keyboard did. The keys have held up fine both mechanically and color. I haven‘t used any or the rubber key covers. Is it expensive? Yes. But I will certainly buy another one if new iPads have compatibility issues.

One thing I forgot to mention. I often watch YouTube videos on my iPad. And, from time to time, the rewind, play and forward buttons will show on the screen, while I am watching a YouTube video (as if I tapped the screen, and was about to pause or something).

I have never noticed this, with the Magic Keyboard disconnected. ONLY if connected. Not sure what causes that.
Any other owners noticed this?

I use it without a keyboard protector. I'm not a fan of these things...

I just wipe it off regularly...

Will it show signs of wear over time? Sure, but that's what tools are for. To be used...

I'll flip the question back to you though. What are you gaining with a protector? Protecting the look of the keyboard finish so the secondhand buyer can enjoy it fully? It reminds me of going over a person's house with plastic all over the chairs that are uncomfortable to sit on and look like crap. I guess when they die people who don't care about the furniture can finally see it in its full glory just as they set it out in the trash? Enjoy your stuff...

Used it as intended, enjoy, if you have AppleCare + with your ipad, the keyboard is covered, i’m typing on my third replacement after dropping it and destroying it.

It’s durable and enough for me to keep my interest on getting a laptop at bay BUT the only downside of this is the fact that sometimes I completely forget that the ipad is better use on portrait mode.

the Magic keyboard with the apple pencil are two accessories that do not go well together to be honest so bad I returned my pencil In favor of my magic keyboard.

If you really want to know how to unlock your magic keyboards full potential, always hold the bottom CMD for a few seconds to learn the keyboard shortcuts that put this above a MBP in my opinion.

Getting the help menu to pop up during each app shows you what the keyboard can do, you get used it after a while
