How do you know it's unlocked?

I jailbroke my 2G iPhone just now with Pwnage. It's clearly jailbroken (Cydia is there along with installer), but how do I know it's considered unlocked for other networks? I'm planning on selling it, and I want to be confident that it's actually unlocked.

can i insert a sim that is associated with an att account with the iphone plan? if i don't have access to anything that's not att, how can i check if it's unlocked?

you'd have to insert a non att sim to truly test if its unlocked.
