How do you listen to your iPod typically?

Albums when I want to actively listen, shuffle when I don't and I don't have my XM.

new music...

I have a smart playlist set up that pulls all of the music I've added over the last six weeks. I then sort it by play count (low to high), so that each time I plug in my iPod, I get a different order of my newest music for my hour-long commute to work.

I do the same thing with different playlists for genres and a playlist that I manually compile of my favorite 25-30 tracks.

I listen to it in different ways for different times. When I go for a run I usually set up a mixed playlist and set it on shuffle. If I just got a new album that I want to listen to for awhile I'll listen to the album on shuffle until I get sick of it.

I am surprised (pleasantly) with the number that chose 'listen to album'. I'm always skeptical that the iPod lends itself to singles and not to full albums (as opposed to a CD player forcing you to carry full albums... but I guess you could have just made mix cds)

Well there is no multiple choice unfortunately and I can't say I use it in one way more than others.

I listen to podcasts just as much as I listen to whole albums or individual songs and playlists.

Usually I put these playlists on shuffle I made that have my 4 and/or 5 star songs that I haven't heard in X number of weeks, i.e. "4+ 4 weeks ago" has a list of 4 and 5 star songs that I haven't heard in about a month.

I don't know about everyone else, but I generally use my ears.

Playlists are the most common way for me, but I usually scroll to a song I haven't heard often lately and let it go from there.

Usually playlists, sometimes I'll shuffle all the songs. I rarely listen to one artist or album, as it gets boring quite quickly. Sometimes when I'm in my OCD mood, I may pick each song I want or keep fast forwarding until I get the song I want. Sometimes I would press fast forward a hundred times or more until I get something I want .

Much the same for me, but sometimes, I'll choose an artist or band, and listen to that. Other times, I'll opt for a genre and explore that. Oddly enough, I rarely use shuffle, but when scrolling, sometimes stumble across something I have not heard for a while, and will then play that piece.

Cheers

I have a playlist that contains all of my 4 & 5 rated songs (2500+ of them). Sometimes I get in the mood to listen to a particular album or artist -- but my Favs playlist gets the most use.

I never shuffle. I decide what I want to listen to and listen to it. It will most often be an album, sometimes a playlist or less often a single track.

I usually choose individual tracks. If my iPhone playlist (which I remake with songs that I like at the moment) is good enough at a certain moment, I'll shuffle.
