I've boat loads of various movies/TV Shows/multi-part instructional videos etc that I'm moving over to iTunes and ATV.

My question is how to you effectively organize/tag your videos in iTunes so they're easily accessible on ATV and iPhone/iPad (via home sharing)?

You get a big long list on the ATV/iDevice which isn't very helpful - are there any top tips for using playlists or other organizational methods iTunes gives you to make navigation on your ATV or iDevice easy?

It looks like you can set Album data etc even for videos which might make sorting/navigation easier but I couldn't see how that then manifested itself in ATV?

There's plenty of software options for tagging your media files with "album" info such as genre, year etc. TV Shows can be grouped in episode order by show & season. Search in here for "metadata" or "tagging" and you'll find a ton of information.

You can add some information in iTunes directly, but it's limited and it isn't embedded into the file.

Also dont for get to activate 'playlists' for ALL on the ATV. Then you can create playlists of anything, movies, TV or Music, in iTunes, and they will all be accessible on the ATV.

There is actually a thread on how people have organized their libraries, with a lot of screen captures to help give you ideas. Its actually a rather massive thread.

Use a program like identify 2 (my personal favorite) to tag your movies and TV shows and let it add the files to iTunes. Then use playlist folders and smart playlist to organize them.

As it was stated above you need to turn on playlist for movies in your ATV.

This is about the best you can do for now on the ATV.
