Due to the obvious design flaw, one is no longer able to pick up the iPad Air laying on flat surface with one hand.

Previously the curved back allowing one to stick a figure underneath to lift it and pick that up.

would like to see how does everyone owning the new iPad Air 4th solve the problem? (Except using both hands)

Preciously? Curved back? What?
No iPad had a curved back.

It’s a tablet, hardly designed for one handed use.

The mini 4 and the older basic iPads have flat back but curved towards the back edges. The cases we have for those have the curve towards the edges so its easier to "slide" our finger to pick it up.

My 11" Pro I can't pick up one handed if its on a flat, hard surface. On something soft like a sofa where I can slide my finger under, I can pick it up one handed.

My iPad Pro is almost always attached to the Smart Keyboard. I guess that helps some, and I can’t say I have been in a situation where I absolutely had to pick it up with just one hand.

Thanks. Now what about that curved back? Which iPad had that?

I like to give mine a brisk shove towards the edge of the table and then quickly whip my hand across and catch it as it before it hits the ground.

Why would you ever put the iPad Air down is a better question 🙋‍♂️

I would place it on top of a cushion or on top of a book to keep it from laying flat

With my teeth!

I’m kidding. I‘ve never really considered this problem before. All my iPads have been in a case of some sort. This does feel like looks over function. Maybe no one inside Apple had this problem or the problem was discussed as not impacting many folks and left “unaddressed”? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Terrible idea: just slide it to the edge of the surface! (I can just hear the scratches happening in my head).

Slide towards me and finger grab the bit poking off the edge.
