The thing is almost impossible to remove.

I had to put my MBP on the edge of my desk, to grip the connector from top & bottom to get it to disconnect.

I’ve seen a video, where the fella “tilts” it up or down, to break the magnetic connection, allowing it to be easily removed. Is this how you do it?

I’ve never used MagSafe before, so this is new to me.

Tilt up, down, or to the side. It’s almost impossible to pull straight out.
I was tilting to the side, but it wouldn't budge.

Next time I'll tilt up, or down by just pressing down on it. That's how the fella did it on an old video. It wasn't on this gen of MBP, which is apparently much firmer to remove.

Yeah, the magnet on the new MBP's is much stronger than the old MagSafe. It's easy to disconnect by tilting up/down. Sideways or straight pull is much harder to disconnect.

The old MagSafe 2 was from an old MBA 11 inch 2014 :p. I moved to the new 16inch with M1 Pro. Just the normal 16gigs of ram. I only upped the storage to 1tb :D
Same as mine.

But I went with the 1TB model, never upgraded anything.

What are you using it for? Has it met your expectations?

Yeah same with me then. I got the base 16inch with 1tb of storage..

Mainly using it to do my study so coding etc and then I mainly use it to enjoy content like series movies and such

It is so nice . Very very fast and quiet. So energy efficient too.

Glad you’re happy with it.

I’m starting an acting course next month, only a short one, and I’m going to use mine for writing scripts, and then hopefully editing scenes.

I got student discount, so that was good.

Yep!

Haven't edited video before, but I'm sure it'll be fun learning.

I'll use iMovie, which comes with the Mac.

Looking forward to the acting course. It'll be a completely new discipline, which intrigues me. I'm a self taught photographer, so hopefully I can apply my photographic eye to a scene and portray a character in a new way. You learning Swift?

Nope. Just a course in college and everything. I think we're gonna do flutter now.

I think iMovie should be enough for simple editing. Pretty good I think

Rocking it off vertically is how I’ve always done it with any version of MagSafe. One thing I’ve noticed with the current MagSafe is that the cable doesn’t include strain relief (at least one which is visible from the outside), which I found surprising. That’s another reason why you shouldn’t try to yank it straight out or pull on the cable.

So glad someone else has bought the base model.
I'm going to do the same thing except with 32GB of ram and part of me was nervous about not getting the 10 core cpu.
Very happy you're happy and solidifies my choice :)

I HUNGER
I’ll just use Pages.
Ouch. That's gonna be painful. There are quite a few free scriptwriting apps that will get you started. There are also the paid versions, like Final Draft, which is the industry standard in Hollywood. I'd def look into getting a program because there is industry standard formatting (differs for novels, movies, plays) and you'll be expected to have it formatted correctly.

Thanks for the advice.

It’s only an entry level short course, so I’m hoping Pages will suffice.

Honestly. It won’t suffice. I’d def try out a free app at minimum.

Edit: actually I imagine the course may even recommend some apps to use. Pages is poor at formatting, especially for scriptwriting. There are so many particular things that just get done automatically with an app, even the free ones that not using one will add an incredible amount of time and frustration to your work. Instead of focusing on writing you’ll be constantly formatting.

You're overthinking this. Just pull it up or downwards.

The design accounts for the fact that, in the event the cable is 'tugged' accidentally by means of tripping, the MacBook would be located on a higher surface than the AC adapter and thus the cable itself. The cable is therefore pulled down towards the ground, hence why the adapter has a longer horizontal surface than vertical.

This isn't to say you can't release MagSafe by pulling it parallel/horizontally - but just keep in mind that you're placing more stress on the cable by doing this.

Seems like common sense to me, though if you were to look at Reddit there's clearly a lot of users who have either never used MagSafe previously or who can't grasp basic engineering.

You're gonna learn to act, write and edit movies in a single short course?

Good luck!
No, the course is just acting.

I write creatively myself, so I just need to apply what I know and adapt to writing scripts.

I'll have to learn video editing along the way.

This is an absolute beginners, introductory course, so I can undertake many courses after that, as required.

Yes, I charged it yesterday, then simply pressed/tilted it down when completed and then pulled it away.

It was easy.
