How can I unpwn my iphone 3g. I pwned it with quickpwn for mac. I want it back to factory settings

You should simply be able to do it by using the restore button in iTunes, then when you get to the setup screen, set the phone up as new, to prevent any modified settings files from being transferred.

TEG

Make sure that when it is done you erase all settings and data before you sell/return it so that they dont get any personal information from your phone. to do this go to settings->general->reset->erase all content and settings.

Who is "they?" And all that does is add 2 hours of waiting.

Just restore your phone and call it good.

Actually the "Erase All Content and Settings" is causing problems on Pwned iPhone's. Mine and a friends got stuck in a reboot loop. I was able to fix mine on a Mac with 8.0. He is having a nightmare with Vista and 8.0.

Just restore using itunes to original apple firmware and then set the phone up as a new phone (DO NOT restore from back up) and it will be factory fresh!

you sure? as i understand it the restore process does not overwrite the user data partition. if you browse the files you'll see your old data.

did you change the partiton size during the pwn process?

I want to know this as well. Does it REALLY erase everything and set it up as new, also getting rid of the user data partition?

If not, then how do we do it?

Just finished testing...

In order to 'virginize' a Pwned iPhone you must Restore in iTunes then perform an "Erase All Content and Settings" then setup as 'New iPhone.'

Residual jailbreak files will be visible to the Genius Bar if you ONLY 'Restore.'

even if i restore from a pre-pwned backup will the genius bar still be able to see that I jailbroke my phone?

Read the post just above you. The point is that a restored backup only restores the OS partition. There are jailbreak files in the user partition that need to be deleted.

is there anyway to "unpwn" the 3g? Like if i want to keep all my settings and data on the phone, just remove the jailbreak. Or is a restore the only want to remove it?

Thanks
