I'm just clarifying this. I have a jailbroken iPhone 3g on 2.0.2.

To update to a newer firmware (jailbreak), I restore the phone and update it when its not jailbroken, then using pwnage I make an IPSW file and restore with that?

With the new update on pwnage I can jailbreak with iTunes I've heard.

Thanks in advance,

You either:

1. Make custom 2.1 firmware with Pwnage Tool/WinPwn
2. Put your phone into DFU mode and restore using the custom firmware.

Or:

1. Upgrade with iTunes to 2.1 stock.
2. Use QuickPwn to jailbreak from there.

All I have is this IPSW file... I'm downloading it from http://www.iphone-hacks.com

How come pwnage didn't create a 2.1 file? It did for 2.0.2 if I remember correctly.

[EDIT]

I'm going to use #2 of what you suggested. Sounds easier.

I thought you lost some features with quickpwn.

Quickpwn or pwnage? I'm downloading quickpwn now.

Can anyone else comment on this?
