Why Sierra?

If you can install a new OS like Sierra might be beneficial for you. Though it’s up to you if you prefer El Capitan. Here’s a comparison on the user interface between Sierra and El Capitan.

Hi barbu Your Link is correct and works fine. I tested the link and successfully downloaded El Capitan. After the download completion, checked the OS installer and works Okay.

Where are you? If in the San Francisco Bay Area PM me. Otherwise find someone who has a clean installation of El Cap on a disk and use SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cleaner to copy it onto your hard drive.
