How Does a HomePods Surround Sound System Compare?

Curious how a (two) HomePods setup compares to a good soundbar (like the Bose “TV Speaker” soundbar). I know the HomePod Mini doesn’t support Atmos, but with a high vaulted ceiling, I don’t benefit from Atmos anyway. Also curious about the base if anyone has experience.

I have a HomePod mini, about to sell an Amazon Echo studio, and in comparison to the Bose Solo TV 15 Series II I have, the Bose is far superio, regardless of Dolby Atmos used by the Echo. Bass is also better on the Bose, even though the Echo Studio has a 5” subwoofer. According to rtings.com it doesn’t go that low.
