During the setup process of a new Mac, you'll be prompted to backup from an existing Mac. In this case I have a time machine backup that I'd like to use, (just the default backup that happens when you use time machine) but I'm wondering if the backup will just put my files on the new mac, or if it will literally copy everything (files, applications, wallpaper, OS settings etc..). I would like it to do the latter, and I'm assuming it will, but I'm not entirely sure. Can anybody who's actually used a time machine backup for a new computer weight in?

Thanks

You can choose to copy everything - all settings, data, applications etc.
That way the new computer will have a fresh OS, and if you copy everything else over it will look just like your previous machine.
