That is, if I buy a new, mid-2012 MBP and get the free Mountain Lion upgrade, will I be able to use this to upgrade my Mac mini as well? I know that Mac App store purchases (including OS X updates) are usually transferable to all your Macs, but I'm not sure if this works any differently.

And YES, I know it's only $20 to upgrade from the Mac App store, but I might as well save money if I can.

I'm pretty sure that you just get sent a redeem code for the MAS. So yes, you could, although technically it's just supposed to be for your new computer.

Promo Code my current MBP was bought during the free Lion promo and i got a promo code, so to your OP yes it will be a full purchase as far as your apple ID is concerned so you can redownload on other macs you own
