If I'm a high school student, will I receive a discount? I did find my school on the site, but I'm not sure if there's any twist to the whole sale.

Education discounts are year-round and I think they're the same between schools (college or high school), as I checked my college vs my high school (both being equal).

The back to school sale is more specific in the sense that some (not all) computers, when purchased via an education discount, get an iPod Touch for free. However, this sale hasn't started yet (in the US, at least) and you actually have to pay for the iPod Touch up front. After doing so, you simply go their rebate page, fill out their online form, and they mail (I think) you a check in the amount of the iPod touch (I think it's $199).

Again, it doesn't seem as if high schooler's are treated any differently than college students.

Ok , so the discounts are the same year round, but during this period you get an iPod as well.

Ok, but do I also receive the student discount at the store on the laptop?

Well I'll just be purchasing the MBP, but what do you mean by the Apple ID? I'm sorry I don't have an account on Apple.com, and also, how much will the price be dropped by?

In the US unless you are a graduating senior you aren't eligible for the promotion.

Miles, I don't know where you got your info but you are VERY wrong.

I take advantage of this offer every year to upgrade my computers. The past two years you have gotten an 8GB iPod touch for free after rebate. This is on top of the normal educational discount. It applies to every system except the Mac Mini (and I have heard in Europe where it has already started for the year - does not apply to 11" Air).

Should start next Tuesday if history holds....

Miles, I don't know where you got your info but you are VERY wrong.

Well, OK- but I get my info from the Terms and Conditions (PDF, 2010 version) which states:

EDUCATION INDIVIDUAL PURCHASE QUALIFICATIONS: Those eligible to purchase as Education Individuals include faculty, staff, students, and parents as follows:
K–12: Any employee of a public or private K–12 institution in the United States is eligible. In addition, school board members who are currently serving as elected or appointed
members are eligible. PTA or PTO executives currently serving as elected or appointed officers are eligible.
Higher Education: Faculty and staff of higher education institutions; and students attending, or accepted into a higher education institution, are eligible.
Higher Education Parents: Parents purchasing on behalf of their child, who is a student currently attending or accepted into a public or private higher education institution in the
United States, are eligible.

Emphasis mine. Please note that the "K-12" category does not include students.

So, what evidence are you citing to support your claim?

Well, I will have a way out either way due to the fact that my older brother is a graduating senior this year. ;)

And I know this sounds silly, but doesn't "K-12" refer to kindergarten thru' 12 grade?

Yes, and since you are a sophomore (grade 10 in the US) you aren't officially eligible.

Well, k-12 means everywhere up from elementary school to senior years, that's what I thought, sorry if I sound kind of dumb.

Grade 10 is technically included when people say "K-12," but the key here is that the K-12 discount applies to faculty/staff/etc. and not students. So if you're a high school sophomore, you're not eligible.

Someone said earlier that graduating high school seniors are eligible as well (I guess the assumption being that they're going on to college, but I'm not sure if proof of college enrollment is required).

Any year college student should be eligible.

I just bought my MBA about a week ago online from apple. I just found my school, picked product and upgrades, then checked out. I was not required to show proof of enrollment of any kind.

Also, what miles is saying is when you read his post (the bolded part) it does not state students of K-12, only an employee. Even thought I think anyone can just go online and click on the education store and purchase from there with the education discount.

Ok, thanks for clearing it up. I think I will try and get the back to school discount, and if I need verification, I will use my older brother's.
