I want to know how bad does the mini-dvi to vga adapter plugged looks on a macbook to an 19" lcd....since I have my desktop plugged via dvi (my desktop has dual dvi) and my monitor has 1xvga and 1xdvi....I'm left with the vga for the macbook unless I plug my desktop by vga with an adapter that came with the videocard but I would like to know how does the mini-dvi to vga looks comparing to mini-dvi to dvi.....

I ordered the vga adapter by accident and hooked it up and the picture was horrible. I bought the dvi adapter and it is much better. This is from a macbook to a 20" lcd.

I had the same setup, but on purpose. I had the DVI from my gaming PC for the better graphics. My Macbook was VGA - worked just fine, quality was just fine - unless you're doing high end stuff, which you wouldn't be doing on a Macbook.

what i want to know if why apple includes a DVI to VGA adapter with the MBP but not a video / Svideo out adapter, i mean, seriously who else sells a laptop with no built in TV out???

Most people wouldn't need that built in. Apple is not in the game to include things that most people don't need.

if no one needs it why does every other mfg include it on their product? its ridiculous not to include a video output on a laptop

my friend who got me into macs has a Powermac g4 and when i showed told him my mbp didnt have video out, he told me i was lieing

What percentage of notebook users do you think actually need to use video out so often that it has to be built in? Not many... If Apple were to fill their laptops with every type of port under the sun just because somebody might use it, the simplicity that they strive to put into the designs of their products would be lowered. If someone really needs video out, it's just a $19 adapter.

My old laptop had S-video output. I used it once over three years.
