I read a review on another site where the user mentioned using the Mini as a DVR. I have a PC (I have a MacBook and iMac too) with a TV tuner card in it and it will record TV, but I'm not understanding how a Mini can replace a DVR. Can someone help me understand?

By itself, it really can't. Many of us with Mini's use Elgato EyeTV with the mini to act os DVR.

OK. That makes sense.

I'm assuming that would work with an iMac too since it uses USB?

Actually, you can connect a firewire cable between your cable box and the mini and, using iRecord or the AVCVideoCap app (free from developer.apple.com if you join, which is free), you can record shows off the box - ones that aren't copy-protected.

Not the easiest thing to set up, but it works pretty well - a nice addition to using elgato's excellent products. Assuming, of course, that you have a cable box....
